ABOUT ME
I grew up in the small, southern town of Cheraw, South Carolina surrounded by extended family and a childhood that epitomized "it takes a village to raise a child." My family owned and operated the local hardware store for four generations. Like my other family members, I worked my way up from statement stuffer, shelf duster, and cleaner to present wrapper and finally cashier. I learned countless lessons from working at Cheraw Hardware, among them that every job is important and worth doing well, treat every customer with respect, and loyalty and integrity are essential business skills.
After graduating from Cheraw High School, I set off for Winthrop University. I pursued my lifelong dream of becoming a teacher and earned my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Winthrop. My career in public education lasted for 29 years and span across five districts. Education was my passion, and I am proud of my long career as an educator and the lessons and skills that it taught me.
When my son became interested in lacrosse, I helped start a local lacrosse league. Marketing this effort and creating social media became one of my primary functions in the group. I expanded these skills when my father ran for political office, assisting with his social media, including planning and taking photographs and posts.
As retirement from my career in education grew closer, I began searching for new career opportunities. The joy I find in my personal use of social media, combined with my love of writing and marketing skills, has transpired into RWD Social Media Marketing! I cater to small businesses and individuals to maintain a personal connection, excellent quality, and personalized touches to my clients.
